Safe Drive Save Life is a campaign that was launched by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, on 8th July 2016, with a view to promote road safety and ensure that people can move across the city safely. The program aimed at spreading awareness about road safety was very well received by the citizens of the State. A severe drop in the annual casualty figure in road accidents is a testament to the effective impact of the program all over the state.
Road Safety is not just the role of the Law Enforcing Agencies. In fact, every road user contributes towards making the roads faster, safer and friendlier. With a view to spread the message of Road Safety and Awareness amongst road users and to take the program to a newer paradigm, Kolkata Police started the 1st edition of Kolkata Police Safe Drive Save Life Half Marathon in January 2018. Within a span of two years the Marathon gained national prominence and became the biggest half marathon event of the State.
It gives me immense pleasure to announce that this year, we are going to organise the 6th Edition of this event on 18th January 2026. The previous edition of this event that was held in February 2025 saw a record participation of 18,000 runners from all walks of life. Your whole hearted participation this year will raise the standard of this event even further.
We are working tirelessly with synchronised efforts to make this an enjoyable and memorable event for all the participants.
Your participation as a runner or as a cheer leader will help us spread road safety awareness amongst everyone making the city thoroughfares and state roads safer to travel through.
